Re:CMC in laundry powders - 2005/06/17 06:57 Under the correct conditions everything is soluble in something. Thereafter, it is only required to find the correct combination of media for separation and instrument for detection, normal phase, reverse phase, ion, ion exclusion, size exclusion, etc, refractive index, UV, electrochemical, MS, etc. detectors.

If an analyte is not water soluble, addition of a water soluble organic such as an alcohol, acetone, etc. might increase that solubility. Otherwise there are probably organic solvents that it might be soluble in. It is even possible that it is soluble in aqueous acidic or basic solvents. There is also the possibility of exchanging the sodium with some organic to form a more oleophilic or hydrophilic derivative. There are so many possibilities that we do not have time to investigate them all. Hopefully someone already has a method for what we need to do. If so we do not individually have to keep re-inventing the wheel. That is the POWER of these types of forums.
